Order of the Greyhound

The Order of the Greyhound , also known as the Order of Loyalty , was founded in 1416 as a knightly society in the Duchy of Bar . It was founded under the name “Ordre de la fidelite” in May 1416. It was intended to strengthen mutual love, loyalty and to defend the duchy . That belonged partly to France and partly to the Holy Roman Empire , but the order is considered a French order. In 1423 it was renamed the Order of Saint Hubert , or Hubertus for short . The order decoration was a golden wind chime. The short motto of the order : "Tout un" was applied to the collar .

The order should only exist for five years, but was by Louis XVIII. renewed again in 1815. Before that the kings Louis XIV , Louis XV struggled to obtain the order . and also Louis XVI. The Order was dormant for some time before its last renewal. Its extinction on July 29, 1830 coincided with the Revolution.
