from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Order of Argata , or Orden de l Argata , also Order of the Haspel , was a Neapolitan order of knights . The order was founded in 1376 by Ludwig von Anjou . He had become heir to the throne with the help of Queen Johanna I of Naples , but had to defend his position with the envy of his throne from Karl von Durazzo and his son King Ladislaus until his death . After the victory over Ludwig II in 1381, the duke called himself King Karl III. from Naples. In 1388 nobles founded a society for the defense of the city and port against the enemies of Ludwig II. This society dissolved after the death of Ludwig II. The followers called themselves knights of Argata based on the order.
