Ordo Socialis - Scientific Association for the Promotion of Christian Social Teaching eV is a German association based in Cologne . Ordo socialis is the Latin expression for social order , which was coined in the 1930s by the Catholic priest  Carl Sonnenschein (1876–1929).

The association was founded in 1985 as an independent organization from the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU). In the area of ​​business ethics in particular, he contributes to the international discussion of Christian positions in church and society. The association describes its profile with three adjectives: Christian, social and worldwide. "Christian" denotes the will for ecumenical openness of the Catholic Association. The term "social doctrine" is an indicator for the orientation towards the papal and episcopal social doctrine. Ordo Socialis offers texts in many languages ​​by an international group of authors to fulfill its tasks.

Ordo Socialis operates worldwide. This requires the cooperation and support of experts from many countries. The exchange of knowledge and opinions is essential for a global dialogue. In order to be able to fulfill this task, a scientific advisory board was created. The task of the members is to propose suitable topics and texts from their countries for translation and publication and to bring their advice to the dialogue. An international conference is held at regular intervals. The advisory board under spokesman Markus Vogt consists of 40 experts from four continents.

Ordo Socialis Prize

In 2013 the Ordo Socialis Prize was founded. It is awarded to personalities who, through their work, are committed to the dissemination and implementation of important topics of Christian social teaching.
