The Oregon State Police (also State Trooper ) is the law enforcement agency for the US state of Oregon . It reports to the Governor of Oregon .

The State Police was established in 1931. The main task was and is to support the local police and the work of the sheriffs in rural areas of Oregon.

Task and organization

The agency's mission is to promote the quality of life and safety in Oregon and to protect the property and natural environment of the state of Oregon. This is to be achieved through prevention, education, and community support across Oregon and swift action when necessary. The State Police has various departments for special tasks such as drug control and the like. a. The tasks of the "Fish and Wildlife Division", whose officials protect the natural assets of Oregon, take action against poaching and work together with the federal US Fish and Wildlife Service , play an important part .
