Organization for the realization of common music concepts , or organization for short , was a German experimental and Krautrock group.

history

Organization was founded in 1968 by two students from the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf , Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider-Esleben , together with Basil Hammoudi, Butch Hauf and Alfred Mönicks. Paul Lorenz, Peter Martini and Charly Weiss also worked sporadically with the group.

In the beginning, the group played improvised songs in art galleries and universities. The first and only album, Tone Float , was produced by Konrad "Conny" Plank and was released in the UK in August 1970 on the RCA Victor label. The album was only available as an import record in Germany, which contributed to the narrow success of Tone Float . In the course of the year, RCA decided to stop producing the group: Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider-Esleben (later: Florian Schneider) left the group to found Kraftwerk . Shortly afterwards, the organization disbanded, and Basil Hammoudi, Butch Hauf and Fred Mönicks returned to the university.

In a video published by WDR you can see the group playing the song Ruckzuck : this song will later be recorded for Kraftwerk's first album, the Kraftwerk of the same name , which was released in November 1970. The performance was recorded on April 25, 1970 in Essen's Grughalle as part of the "Essen Pop and Blues Festival" and it was the group's last performance under the name of Organization: Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider then parted ways with Kraftwerk to found.

In an interview in the mid-1990s, Fred Mönicks stated that the five boys had started playing "Kraftwerk" shortly after Tone Floats , but RCA asked them to choose a name that was more appropriate for the English market and for this reason the name organization was chosen. Later, Basil Hammoudi and the former Kraftwerk drummer Andreas Hohmann worked with the jazz rock band Ibliss.
