Organizing for America

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Organizing for America (OFA) is the successor organization to Obama for America , the campaign organization for Barack Obama for the 2008 US presidential election .

OFA is chaired by the Democratic National Committee and its job is to support Obama's goals in general through local organization and opinion-forming. Sometimes, as with health insurance reform , OFA's 13 million members are also called upon to support specific political goals. The scope and technological means of this organization far exceed any previous such endeavor, e.g. B. the organization Democracy for America of the former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean .

On January 17th, 2009, Barack Obama described the OFA's mission in a video message sent to supporters and reporters as follows:

As president, I will need the help of all Americans in facing the challenges ahead. Therefore I call on people like you who fought for change during the election campaign to continue the fight for change in your communities. "
