Orona is a Spanish elevator and escalator manufacturer based in Hernani near San Sebastián . The company was founded in 1964 and is part of the Mondragón cooperative conglomerate . According to the company, every tenth new elevator in Europe in 2019 came from Orona.
After the company was founded, Orona initially worked in boiler construction and finally began to manufacture lifts for the Italian manufacturer Sabiem under license. After the license expired in 1975, Orona started producing its own elevator models under its own name. Escalators have also been part of the company's product portfolio since 1989.
