Orquesta La Solución

Orquesta La Solución is a well-known salsa band from Mayaguez , Puerto Rico . Not to be confused with the band of the same name from Costa Rica .

Career

The band was founded in 1974 by musical director and bassist Roberto "Bola" Rivera together with relatively young musicians from Mayaguez. The original line-up consisted of piano, bass, four trombones, congas, bongos, timbales and three singers. One of their first lead singers was Tato Rico. The Orquesta La Solución is counted among the best classical salsa groups after 30 years of creative work. An independent style is ascribed to her, which is characterized among other things by the combination of Latin American percussion with trombones. Orquesta La Solución won international prizes such as the Trofeo Salsa in Peru , Búho de Oro in Panama and the Pergamino Costeñidad Colombiana with her hits “La Rosa y la Vida”, “Morena Consentida” and “La Juma de Ayer” . Numerous well-known artists began their careers in this group: Esteban "Tato Rico" Ramírez, Benny Santiago, Rubén Blades (1978–79), Celia Cruz (1980), Héctor Lavoe (1986) and Frankie Ruiz (1977–1981), who in the band celebrated its greatest successes with songs like "La Rueda" and "Chiquito Corazoncito". The song “La Rueda” was number one in the Latin American charts for six weeks.
