The Ortel Mobile NV is a mobile discounter Corporation, based in The Hague / Netherlands. According to its own information, the group is one of the largest prepaid providers in Europe. It is classified as a holding company . The brand is present in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain.
The founder and owner of the company is Celal Oruç (CEO and President), who together with Wilfred Rottier (Executive VP Sales, Marketing & Business Development) and Danny Gorter (Executive VP Finance, Organization & Legal) form the management of Ortel Mobile.
history
Ortel Mobile was founded in The Hague / Netherlands in spring 2005 . In June 2005, it brought a prepaid mobile phone set to the mobile phone market. In 2006 the subsidiary Ortel Mobile GmbH was founded in Germany. In March 2008 a majority stake was sold to KPN Mobile .
In the 2007 financial year, Ortel Mobile had sales of EUR 87 million in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. 56 people are employed in the branches in The Hague, Antwerp and Düsseldorf.
Ortel Mobile Germany announced on June 18, 2008 that it had the one millionth customer in Germany.
At the end of 2007, Ortel took over the customer base of the Belgian discounter Ilycom . At the beginning of April 2009 the customers of the Belgian IDT Mobile will be taken over.
Ortel Mobile Deutschland is particularly successful in 2015 and 2016 with innovative products, e.g. B. CROSS or a 10 GB data flat rate, has grown strongly in the market. In 2016 the Ortel Mobile App was translated into many languages in Germany, including a. Arabic, translated in order to gain more market share, especially in the target segment of refugees.
After the merger of E-Plus and O 2 , some tariffs were discontinued due to internal consolidations of the brands of Telefónica Germany , which also includes the German branch.
