The Orthostixinae are a small subfamily of the Spanner (Geometridae), which belong to the butterflies . Currently, 17 species in four genera are included in this subfamily.
features
The common features of the species of this subfamily are the veining of the wings. The wires Sc + R1 and RR are not grown together, but with a short wire (r1) between Sc and Rs. Wire M2 is present, as is A1. A2 is long and A3 about 1/3 of the hind wing length. The caterpillars still have eight pairs of legs, even if the pairs of belly legs are rudimentary.
Taxonomy
The subfamily includes four genera with a total of 17 species. In Europe there are only two species from the genus Orthostixis , which are common in eastern southern Europe. In the north it reaches Hungary , in the east Romania , Moldova , southern Ukraine and southern Russia .
