Oscar Edelstein (born June 12, 1953 ) is an Argentine composer and music teacher.

Edelstein studied composition, orchestration, music analysis, electroacoustic music and new technologies between 1970 and 1986 with musicians such as José Maranzano , Mariano Etkin and Francisco Kröpfl . Between 1974 and 1977 he received a scholarship from the Centro de Investigaciones en Ciencia, Material, Arte y Tecnología (CICMAT), worked at the Laboratorio de Investigación y Producción Musical (LIPM) in 1985/86 and ran the project financed by the Fundación Antorchas between 1989 and 1991 Estudio y Aplicación de los medios digitales en la Composición Musical . At the Centro de Investigación Musical theUniversidad de Buenos Aires , he led pioneering work in the field of computer music and the use of artificial intelligence in composition.

Edelstein has been Professor of Composition, Orchestration and Electronic Music at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes since 1995 . In 1997 he founded the Ensamble Nacional del Sur (ENS), whose performances have received critical acclaim as the most important musical event of the decade and the climax of experimental music production in Argentina. For the ensemble he composed the trilogy Klange Urutau (1997), El Hecho (1998) and La Grilla Acústica (2002). In 1992 he received a prize from the Fundación Antorchas for the opera El Telescópio . Other musical theater works were El Tiempo-La Condena (1999) and Muñecas Ciegas (2002). Works like Tangos Científicos , El otro orden and Temblor de Fe were created in collaboration with Silvia Pritz .
