Osservatorio Astronomico Virginio Cesarini

The Osservatorio Astronomico Virginio Cesarini is an observatory near the town of Frasso Sabino in the Sabine Mountains of the province of Rieti at an altitude of 465 m above sea level. The observatory is registered under the IAU code 157 .

The observatory was inaugurated in 1995 and named after the Italian nobleman Virginio Cesarini (1595-1624). It is housed in a flour mill from the 17th century that was converted for this purpose and is run by the municipality of Frasso Sabino together with the Associazione Romana Astrofili . The observatory includes a planetarium and a museum that opened on May 1, 2004.

Instruments

The main instrument of the observatory is a Cassegrain telescope with a primary mirror diameter of 36.8 cm.
