Trieste Astronomical Observatory

The Trieste Astronomical Observatory (Italian Osservatorio Astronomico di Trieste , OAT) is an observatory in Trieste , Italy.

The observatory has its origin in a nautical academy, which was founded by Maria Theresa of Austria in 1753. In 1851 an astronomical observatory was added and from 1923 it was included in the list of Italian observatories. Currently (2008) it belongs to the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica .
