The East Timorese women's football championship was hosted for the first time in 2019 by the Federação Futebol Timor-Leste (FFTL). Eight teams took part in the first edition under the name "FFTL Women's Cup", from which SLB Laulara emerged as the first national champion among women. At the end of June 2020 - at this point in time East Timor had already been considered corona-free for a month and a half - the championship started its second season with eleven teams under the name "Liga Futebol Feto Timor-Leste".
