Oswestry School

Oswestry School is a boarding school in the small English town of Oswestry .

history

The school was founded in 1407 as the second religiously independent school in England by David Holbache and his wife Guinevere Holbache ( Welsh Gwenwhywer). Initially, Latin , Greek and English grammar were taught. The first school building of what was then the Grammar School was built next to the Parish Church of St. Oswald . In the 18th century, however, the school had to expand and moved to its current location. In 1972 girls were accepted into the school for the first time.

School life

Around 100 boarding school students and around 200 day school students are currently attending Oswestry School and are taught from the age of 9 to 18 and accompanied through to their GCSE and A-level exams. Furthermore, a kindergarten and elementary school are attached to the school . The students are accommodated according to the age groups in different houses in single or multi-bed rooms, whereby a distinction is made between the 6th form and the other students. In addition to the compulsory subjects, there are numerous afternoon activities, for example:

The current headmaster is J. Noad. In 2007 Oswestry School celebrated its 600th anniversary.
