The Ottermühle was one of the 14 mills on the Bieber . Viewed from the source, it was the first mill on the Bieber and was located in the Dünsbergbachtal in today's central Hessian municipality of Biebertal . It was built around 1580, but it no longer exists today.

history

In a file relating to the stone mill in the Marburg State Archives , it is reported that an Emerich Steinmüller went into business for himself as a miller and that his descendants ran the otter mill. Emerich Steinmüller was born around 1560 and died in 1594. A descendant of Steinmüller is mentioned in a letter from the Königsberg bailiff to the government in Giessen in 1738. He writes:

"Konrad Steinmüller lives on the Ottermühlchen, is very poor and a dissolute guy and the mill is in a bad condition"

Konrad Steinmüller was a soldier in the Gießen district regiment in 1746, which indicates that he has given up the mill.

The location of the mill can only be recognized today by a few relics of the soil in the stream.
