Ourmedia

Ourmedia was an internet project which, as a digital archive, in cooperation with the internet archive, provided permanent storage space for texts, images, audio files, videos and other media in digital form. The website was opened on March 21, 2005 .

Ourmedia saw itself as a creative platform and open source project that should make it possible to improve existing content (“remix platform”). A comparable project is Wikimedia Commons .

The focus was on free content, but other copyrighted content was also included. Pornography was not included .

Ourmedia.org was founded by Marc Canter and JD Lasica. The Advisory Board included Angela Beesley (formerly Wikimedia Foundation ), Lawrence Lessig ( Creative Commons ) and Brewster Kahle ( Internet Archive ).
