Ovos Moles

Ovos Moles de Aveiro (in German about 'soft eggs from Aveiro ') is a protected geographical indication for a Portuguese dessert that is known nationwide. It is one of the traditional desserts of the Doçaria Conventual .

Manufacturing

Mainly sugar and egg yolk are used for production. This cream, the doce de ovos moles , is wrapped in wafers made from water and flour. The wafers mostly take on local motifs, e.g. B. Marine motifs.

history

According to legend, the ovos moles were invented by a nun in the Convento de Jesus monastery in order to circumvent the law of fasting . This was also done by “hiding” in the wafers, which were needed for the production of the hosts.
