Owens & Minor is a US wholesale company that trades in pharmaceuticals and medical device products. The product range under the MediChoice brand includes not only surgical lights and scales, but also disposable dishes and special cleaning agents . The company Movianto is a subsidiary of Owens & Minor and operates three logistics centers in Germany.
In 1882, the Owens & Minor Drug Company opened a pharmacy in Richmond , Virginia . It wasn't until the 1950s that the company began to grow strongly when the Bodeker Drug Company was acquired in 1954 with sales of three million US dollars. Owens & Minor had a turnover of five million dollars at that time. In the same year, the merged company Owens, Minor & Bodeker (OMB) put its first IBM computer into operation, which was used to automate order processing. With the acquisition of the company A&J Hospital Supply in 1966, expansion into the field of supplying hospitals with medicines and surgical instruments followed. Owens & Minor shares have been listed on the NYSE since 1988 .
