Oxygene 3 is the conclusion of the Oxygène - trilogy . The album was released on December 2, 2016, 40 years after the original Oxygène was released. Jean-Michel Jarre explained about the album that he had set himself the 40th anniversary and the same time frame of 6 weeks as when creating the first Oxygène album in 1976 in order to motivate himself and not think too much about whether it was a good one or a bad idea (to create a 3rd Oxygène album) and record everything in one go.
" Then I took the 40th anniversary of the first album as a deadline to push myself to see if I could compose this new chapter in six weeks, just like I did for the first one: probably to avoid thinking too much about, whether it was a good idea or not, and also to record everything in one go ... "
