The Pöhlsche Schieten is an old Bergische sport from the time of the file cutter at the end of the 19th century similar to the French Boule or the Swiss Bootschen .

Associations in Solingen and Remscheid are known where this sport has been practiced again since the 1990s.

Target area of the Pöhlschesscheeterbahn

Six hand-sized discs of 650 g each made of hardened tool steel are thrown alternately over 15 meters (tournament distance men) for each player. The goal is a wooden post (Pöhl) in the center. There are 4 target areas with which you can achieve 1, 3, 5 or even 10 points (from the outside to the inside). You get ten points for meeting the Pöhl. Depending on the position of the disc at the end of the throws, you get ten (red), five (blue or green), three (yellow) or one (white) point (e). It is possible that your own disc is knocked out of the circles with the throw of a subsequent disc; you will then not receive any further points for this disc on the outside.

The maximum number of points in a round is 120 points, i.e. the Pöhl hit 6 times and all 6 targets in the red area.

Competitions

The Bergische Championship has been held annually at Whitsun since 1985 by the Pol-Daler-Ut club in Solingen. In Solingen there are five Pöhlschesscheeter clubs that regularly hold tournaments.
