The Püttlinger Schlösschen is a former hunting lodge in Püttlingen . It is a listed building.

history

Prince Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken had a hunting lodge built on the foundation of a corner tower of Püttlingen Castle in 1789/90. But in 1793 the house was confiscated by the French revolutionary government and made available to the Metz civil hospital. In 1817 the building was sold to private individuals before it was acquired in 1857 by the first mayor of Püttlingen, Johann Peter Pickard. A decree of the Prussian government in Trier then designated the castle in 1868 as the "official bar" of the Püttlingen community. The castle served as the town hall until 1904, when it became too small and a new building was built a few meters to the north. In the period that followed, the mayors used the house as an official residence.

After the Second World War , the castle was used as an emergency shelter, official residence for community employees and a library. In 1983 it was decided to extensively renovate the house and convert it into an exhibition building.

architecture

Formerly the front, now the back: the park side of the palace

The single-storey baroque building with a mansard hipped roof now stands on a slight hill in the city park of Püttlingen. Both the front and the rear have seven window axes. The attic has five windows on the front and four on the back. Today's rear was the actual front of the building for a long time and is emphasized with rusticated corners. The ground floor with two entrances sits on a colored pedestal. In the 20th century, the main entrance was moved from the front to the back and the staircase was completely redesigned. In addition, the baroque wall surrounding the house was torn down.
