PAS 1045

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PAS 1045 , a publicly available specification (PAS = Publicly Available Specification ) of the DIN German Institute for Standardization, describes the content of training databases and defines formats for the electronic exchange of information about this content.

The specification is primarily applicable to training databases and information systems that are freely accessible on the Internet and provide information about training providers and / or training offers in a region, one or more subject areas or industries or certain types. However, it can also be applied to electronic catalogs or directories of individual training providers. The content of PAS 1045 was developed in cooperation with the InfoWeb Further Education project - funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) - with numerous partners from further education databases and further education providers as well as institutions and associations in the field of further education. The publication of the PAS in autumn 2004 was overseen by the development-accompanying standardization department at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization.

The PAS includes:

  • Minimum content standards and explanations for the information content of further training databases and requirements for the selection options,
  • Recommendations for the specification of universal data exchange formats based on the XML de facto industry standard based on these minimum standards (DEfTIS - Data Exchange for Training Information Systems).

Since its publication, numerous training databases have been based on the standards set by the PAS. Individual elements of the PAS, especially DEfTIS, have since been adapted to practical requirements and recent developments. These changes are documented on the PAS 1045 website.
