The PCI Augsburg GmbH (founded as P oly- C hemie- I ngenieurgesellschaft mbH) is a producer of building products based in Augsburg and two other production sites in Hamm and Wittenberg . As a subsidiary of BASF SE , the PCI Group, together with its sister companies, sells the PCI and Thomsit brands in Europe and achieved sales of over € 300 million (net) in 2018.
history
In 1950 the company was founded by Hans W. Schulz, businessman in Frankfurt and Karl Strehle, engineer in Augsburg as Poly-Chemie-Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH in Frankfurt / Main with a production facility in Augsburg. Coatings for concrete floors and cement screeds were developed with the corporate goal of "manufacturing and selling synthetic plastics for the construction industry and chemical technical advice".
With the "concrete emulsion", a new development to improve the adhesive properties of cementitious mortars, the basis for a successful market entry was created. The market launch of a cement-based tile adhesive for bonding ceramic tiles using the thin-bed method was the beginning of a development in the field of laying materials that has continued to this day.
In the following years the company concentrated on the development of deformable laying materials and implemented a comprehensive tile laying system.
The product range has been expanded over the years and now includes around 300 products from the fields of tile technology, construction technology and flooring technology.
The Thomsit brand has been part of the PCI Group's product portfolio since 2017.
