The partnership for European research in occupational safety ( PEROSH - Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health ) is a free association of currently thirteen research institutes for occupational safety from twelve European countries. The PEROSH statutes form the basis for the cooperation.

history

The consortium was founded on November 7, 2003 in Rome to promote research on important OSH issues . In order to facilitate cooperation within the group of research institutes, the members signed the revised and expanded PEROSH statutes on November 7, 2008 in Dublin . Their most important regulations state that each partner institute bears the costs of its own PEROSH activities and the partnership employs its own manager for international affairs. PEROSH has been represented by this since 2009.

The partnership was renewed and extended in Paris in May 2013 .

In June 2018 the directors of the member institutes met in Bonn on the 15th anniversary of the foundation and adopted the new PEROSH agreement for the period 2018 to 2022. At the same time, new chairpersons were elected who will take up office in 2019.

Members

In 2015, the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (IFA) named thirteen members from 13 countries:

  • Denmark (NFA)
  • Germany ( BAuA and IFA)
  • Finland (FIOH)
  • France (INRS)
  • Great Britain ( HSE )
  • Italy (INAIL)

aims

The PEROSH group would like to improve the effectiveness and effectiveness of research in occupational safety on a European level. For this reason, PEROSH conducts an intensive dialogue with the EU and other international and national industrial safety partners.

Joint research projects serve to create close cooperation with one another. This saves resources, avoids duplication of work, uses synergies and also promotes the mutual exchange of scientific staff. At the same time, the members, e.g. Sometimes also in smaller consortia, carry out EU research projects and bundle the interests in occupational safety research with the European institutions.

The aim of PEROSH is to create an extensive network and to this end also include European organizations, research consortia, social partners and government agencies in its activities.

activities

As a rule, there are up to ten joint research projects in which more than 80 scientists participate. These projects are dedicated to particularly relevant topics for safety and health at work, for example

  • Dose-response relationships for selected chemical substances
  • Employee exposure to indirect ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation (from arcs, flames and thermal radiators)
  • Well-being at work
  • Database on exposure to nanomaterials
  • Health impact assessment for work-related respiratory diseases.

The complete list of current and completed projects can be found on the PEROSH website.

PEROSH also conducts research with a view to standardization, in particular the determination of workplace-related protection factors for protective equipment.

PEROSH identifies new trends and emerging risks in the world of work in order to coordinate its research activities with them at an early stage.

The exchange of experts between the member institutes and our own specialist events promote the transfer of knowledge and coordination with one another.

PEROSH is involved as a partner in the campaign “Healthy Workplaces - For All Ages 2016-17” of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA).

organization

The work of PEROSH is structured by the steering committee and the scientific steering group.

The steering committee consists of the directors of the member institutions and is responsible for strategic management. It decides on the admission of new members, appoints chairpersons and their representatives, determines the composition of the scientific steering group and sets the annual budget.

The scientific steering group consists of the scientific management of the respective member institutes. It meets twice a year to coordinate the research projects and to develop new research fields and opportunities for cooperation.

The manager for international affairs represents PEROSH in relation to the bodies of the European Union (EU). He promotes European occupational safety, drafts joint statements on current EU queries, coordinates research tenders and plans conferences. He is also responsible for the Group's website and a newsletter on current occupational safety issues that is published three times a year.
