The 01 was a diesel railcar owned by the anonymous Luxembourg Prince Heinrich Railway and Ore Mine Company (PH).

history

In the early 1930s, numerous railway companies experimented with railcars in order to improve the operating result on poorly used routes. The PH was also interested in a railcar; due to the poor financial situation, they did not want to buy another vehicle. Therefore, in 1934 the main workshop in Pétange was commissioned to build a vehicle.

The 200 hp diesel engine and other drive components were procured by Ganz , the rest were made in-house. The finished vehicle was very similar to an existing three-axle passenger car, but was a completely new construction.

The vehicle was first used as planned in April 1935, and in the same year a three-axle passenger car was converted into a corresponding two-axle sidecar. From then on, the vehicle mainly operated on the Pétingen – Ettelbrück railway line .

In 1942, the PH No. 01 was retroactively taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn and classified as 136 701 in the numbering scheme. The CFL took over the railcar as the Z 121 , the sidecar had been destroyed during the Second World War.

After an engine failure, the vehicle had to be parked in 1951, a year later it was retired. In 1953 the engine was removed and in 1957 the car was converted into a catenary inspection car. The car, which was retired in 1969, was scrapped in the early 1970s.
