PIC (company)

PIC (Pig Improvement Company) is one of the world's largest pig genetics (pig breeding) companies, a subsidiary of the British biotechnology company Genus plc .

history

The company was founded in 1962 by six Oxfordshire farmers in the UK. Today it is represented in over 30 countries, on the American continent PIC has a market share of 35 to 40%. In 2013 Génétiporc , the pig breeding division of the Canadian company Aliments Breton Foods Group , was taken over . The PIC Germany GmbH has its headquarters in Hannover .

Key figures

The PIC Group employs over 1,500 people worldwide. It operates over 40 of its own breeding farms, has 17 breeding lines and sells over 1.6 million breeding sows and semen every year. PIC works with numerous propagation companies.
