PLDT Inc. (until July 2016: Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company ) is the leading Philippine provider of telecommunications and digital services . The company was founded in 1928 and is headquartered in Makati City . The main business areas of the telecommunications group are wireless (especially mobile communications ) and fixed line ( fixed network ).
The shares of the parent company are listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and as American Depositary Receipts . a. traded on the New York Stock Exchange and are listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange Index .
The company is involved in numerous companies around the world. PLDT has held shares in Rocket Internet since August 2014 and in 2015 founded a global 50/50 joint venture with Rocket Internet in the area of online payment services .
