PLoS Genetics , abbreviated to PLoS Genet. , is a scientific journal published by the Public Library of Science . The first issue appeared in July 2005, it appears monthly. Studies are published that are of interest to a broad audience and represent significant advances in the understanding of biological processes. The magazine grants open access to all articles. The authors essentially bear the costs of publication.
