The PMA-2 ( Protivpešadijska Mina Antimagnetna - 2 ) is an anti-personnel mine manufactured in ex-Yugoslavia that was frequently used during the Yugoslav wars. It is the successor to the PMA-1 and the forerunner of the PMA-3 . It is also known colloquially as Pašteta .

The PMA-2 has a light green or white plastic housing in the shape and size of a shoe polish can. The diameter of the mine is 68 mm, the height 61 mm. In the middle of the top is a screwed-in chemical detonator of the type UPMAH-2 with a star-shaped pressure plate. The explosive charge consists of approx. 100 g TNT . The lead bodies are delivered in wooden boxes of 150 each.

If more than five kilograms of pressure are exerted on the star-shaped pressure piece, a metal plate is pierced and pressure is exerted on the initial charge below. The pressure or friction on the initial charge creates a chemical reaction that generates heat. This heat initiates the detonator, which in turn initiates the explosive charge.

The PMA-2 was introduced and used in the former Yugoslavia . The advantage of the mine lies in its low purchase price and high effectiveness at the same time. Once the mine has been laid, only the six-pointed, clover- like pressure piece protrudes from the ground, which is barely noticeable to the eye. In some cases, PMA-2 have also been laid with the prongs cut off to make them nearly invisible.

The PMA-2 is difficult to spot with metal detectors due to its small size and low metal content of approximately two grams. The PMA-2 was also often relocated in the immediate vicinity of anti-tank mines in order to secure them from manual evacuation. The particular danger here lies in the fact that many metal detectors detect the anti-tank mine within a few centimeters and the small PMA-2s laid on the edge can therefore not be recognized and remain undetected. To disarm the fuse, the fuse is usually secured and unscrewed from the mine body, or the whole mine is blown up without contact.
