Pola (Pola - Fabrication of fine model toys) was a manufacturer of model railway accessories in Rothhausen .

history

The company was founded in 1957 by Horst Pollak, a businessman from Schweinfurt . The company headquarters were later relocated to Rothhausen / Franconia. The 49-year-old company founder had a fatal accident on April 16, 1985 in a plane crash near Zell am Ebersberg . Then Otto-Andreas Schrüfer from Munich took over the company (now: Pola Spiel- und Freizeitartikel GmbH ).

The kit program was transferred to Gebrüder Faller GmbH on February 1, 1997 , which only took over trademark rights and production facilities, but not land, buildings and workplaces. 30 employees were laid off; the Rothhausen site was given up.

Today Faller only carries the kits for the garden railway under the name "Pola G", while the kits in H0 and N scale have been taken over into Faller's own range.

Products

Building kits

At the beginning of the 1960s, the production of plastic kits, u. a. in cooperation with the company Vau-pe . Buildings were produced in the H0, TT, N and 2 scales .

At times, railway models for nominal size 0 were also produced and sold under the name "Pola-Maxi" in cooperation with the Italian model railway manufacturer Rivarossi . Later some of these models appeared as kits under the name "Rai-Mo".
