history

Between the 12th and 19th centuries

Rothhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1196, it developed around a small village church. In 1361 the place was owned by the Lords of Maßbach, later it fell to the Schaumbergers . After the Reformation , from 1528, the Protestant denomination was introduced. Rothhausen was devastated considerably during the Thirty Years War . In 1676, the Schaumberger family sold their entire property to the Rosenbach family for 57,000 Rhenish thalers . This affected the district of Thundorf and the former villages of Rothhausen and Theinfeld . The Rosenbachs were based in Würzburg and administrators were employed for the goods they had taken over from the Schaumbergs. When the male line of the Rosenbach family died out in 1806, the Grand Duke of Würzburg declared the area to be manned and fallen . Since the last gentlemen were Catholic, the area became Catholic again, the parish that Rothhausen looked after was in Thundorf.

From the 20th century

Until 1959 Rothhausen had a stop on the local railway line from Rottershausen to Stadtlauringen ( Lauertalbahn , popularly called Lauermärt ). This rail connection existed for a total of about 60 years.

Since May 1st 1978 Rothhausen belongs to Thundorf in Lower Franconia, where the mayor also has his seat.

The church in the district is known as the Lauertal chapel and even has a wind choir.
