Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council

The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) was a British organization designed to administer and promote research in elementary particle physics and in astronomy, including the study of the solar system.

PPARC emerged from the Science and Engineering Research Council in 1994 . In addition to its funding tasks, it operated the British Astronomy Technology Center in Edinburgh as well as the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory and the Joint Astronomy Center JAC in Hawaii with telescopes at the Mauna Kea Observatory .

In April 2007, PPARC was merged with the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils to form the Science and Technology Facilities Council STFC.
