PSE certification mark

The abbreviation PSE , which stands for Product Safety Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law , designates a safety standard for electrical installations that is common in Japan . The Japanese name is 電 気 用品 安全 法, Denki Yohin Anzenhou . The standard is issued by Japan Electrical Testing Laboratories (JET). All electrotechnical devices that are brought onto the market in Japan must meet the requirements specified therein and bear the PSE symbol.

The standard specifies, for example, the form in which electrical installations, electrical devices such as power supplies , or electrical fuses are to be designed. The current version of the standard dates from April 2, 2001.

The PSE is largely comparable with the DIN VDE 0100 series of standards published in Germany by the Association of Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE) .
