Pagina

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pagina (Latin for "the page") is also called a page number or column number. The pagina indicates the number of a page and thus brings the pages of a book into the correct order.

It can be at the top or bottom of the page, less often on the gutter or outer web. The page numbers on individual pages are always odd on the front and even numbered on the back. In the case of double pages, the left page is the one with the even page number.

The pagina is particularly useful for finding a specific page quickly. For this purpose, the page numbers are assigned to a table of contents or a register.

Page

When pagination is the process in which the individual pages of a book are numbered consecutively. See the article on pagination .

A self-inking stamp that prints a number that is incremented with each new imprint is called a pagination stamp . Often one can also be switched in such a way that it only counts after every second or third ... print or not at all. It is used, for example, to precisely number incoming mail or sheets to be archived, possibly also before scanning in to manage a paperless office .

The pagination by automatically counting stamps also takes place in printing machines for the production of lottery tickets, banknotes, blocks with tickets, receipts for drinks or cloakroom, of carbonless books for orders, invoices, etc. By means of manually operated lever printers, train tickets were printed on small pieces of cardboard and numbered at the same time until around 1970 .

Pagination numbers on invoice blocks, especially on the Paragon type, range from 1 to 50, followed by a six-digit serial number on the right to make each receipt (practically) unmistakable.

When laser printing form blocks from digital image data, pagination can be carried out by continuously changing the image data at the place of the pagination number.
