Paige (Texas)

Paige is a parish in Bastrop County , Texas .

Paige is located on US Highway 290, 44 miles east of Austin and northeast of Bastrop County. The Old San Antonio Road , now Highway 21, borders the north side of the town.

Paige was founded in 1872 near the Houston and Texas Central Railway . It was named after the engineer Norman Paige, who planned the railway line to Houston. After it was founded, Germans in particular moved to the town. At the end of the 19th century, the station was a center for the loading of agricultural products such as cotton, cattle, pigs, butter, eggs, potatoes and wood.

Paige has 2,623 inhabitants (as of 2010).
