The Palazzo Pretorio , also called "Palazzo Senatorio" or "Palazzo delle Aquile" because of the eagle sculptures on its facade, is a palace in Palermo . It is located near the city center on the south side of Piazza Pretoria , right next to the Fontana Pretoria . Its back is in Piazza Bellini . Today the city hall is located in the palace .

The palace was built in the 15th century and was the seat of the Senate of Palermo. It was expanded in the 17th century and further redesigned in the 19th century. The current facade was given to the palace in 1875. It is adorned with a large statue of St. Rosalia , the patron saint of Palermo, and with relief panels depicting stages in the city's history such as Garibaldi's invasion or the visit of Pope John Paul II.
