history

The Pallas Group was founded in 1948 by the military attaché Karl Neumann and his partner Albert Vogt. In the early days of the company, shellac records were first made, but vinyl became the material that prevailed in the early 1950s. With the economic growth in post-war Germany, the Diepholz record factory was also expanding. In 1959, a second production site was set up in neighboring Drebber-Cornau, which was destroyed in a major fire and not rebuilt. The 1960s were characterized by the automation of manufacturing processes. The company management invested heavily in industrial mass production. In 1974, Rolf Neumann, son of one of the two company founders, took over management of the company.

The company subsidiary Orchestrola, founded in the 1970s, recorded music cassettes on two copy lines . During the boom of this sound carrier, the annual output from the Diepholz plant was up to two million MCs. In 2010 production ended due to a lack of demand. In 1986 the newly founded subsidiary P + O Compact Disc joined the group. This enabled the Pallas Group to get started with the production of the upcoming CD . In addition to the standardized formats of the audio CD, all CD-ROM variations and DVDs were created here .

On April 1, 2013, a major fire destroyed the entire production facilities of the P + O Compact Disc. Immediately after the disaster, the company management began - Holger Neumann has been the third generation Managing Director of the Pallas Group since 2003 - with the reconstruction, which began in July 2014 with the inauguration the world's most modern production facility for CD and DVD audio and data carriers. The investment volume was around 11 million euros.

The fourth pillar of the corporate group is DA Music GmbH & Co KG, responsible for sound carrier sales. It exclusively signs artists, markets its own programs worldwide and sells numerous music labels. Whether pop or dance music, whether folk music or New Age / World Music, whether jazz or classical music, whether concert, film music productions or audio books - almost all genres can be found in the broad repertoire of DA Music.

Return of the vinyl record

When the market for vinyl records collapsed in the late 1980s, Pallaschef Rolf Neumann decided not to scrap the old production facilities, as numerous competitors had done. The large area of his factory allowed this. With the onset of the renaissance and the retro boom for vinyl records at the beginning of the new millennium, the Pallas Group benefited from this situation. As one of four providers of this traditional manufacturing process across Europe, the Diepholz plant has been delivering its products to customers around the world at full capacity for several years. A particular focus is on the US market. In addition to the standard 12-inch long-playing record, special products such as picture discs , colored records and pressings with special weights are also produced.

Ecologically oriented

There has been a constant internal process of eco-optimization within the company since the 1970s. According to a professionally prepared efficiency report, energy consumption was drastically reduced. The EU chemicals regulation REACH applies consistently . Wherever possible, the Pallas Group uses environmentally friendly and recyclable materials in its production processes. Any waste materials that arise are fed back into the production cycle whenever possible. The company's sewage system is state-of-the-art and has developed a degree of purification well above the legal requirements. Two employees are responsible for carrying out permanent quality control in all areas of environmental protection and environmental compatibility.

Charitable commitment

The Pallas Group Worldwide is committed to social and general benefit beyond its core business. For many years she has supported the sea rescuers of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People and is also involved in training for young professionals in cooperation with the IHK Diepholz. As a sponsor, musical initiatives are supported selectively, for example the Watts Up Festival in Cuxhaven or JazzFolkKlassik in Syke.
