List of natural monuments in Wels

The list of natural monuments in Wels lists the objects designated as natural monuments in the statutory city of Wels in the state of Upper Austria . The four natural monuments are all trees, with two common oaks , a horse chestnut and a summer linden tree being placed under protection. The oldest protected status was issued in 1977, the youngest in 1993. In the city of Wels, a natural monument notice has not yet been extinguished.

The protected horse chestnut is located on a green area at the intersection of Maria-Theresia-Straße with Bauernstraße and the Kreuzweg. At the time it was placed under protection, the chestnut had a trunk circumference of 2.45 m at a height of one meter, a crown diameter of 13 m and a height of around 17 m. The chestnut was declared a natural monument not because of its size, but because of its impact on the landscape in the busy part of the city. 07/14/1993

The summer linden tree is located on the northwest corner of the factory premises of the Reifetzhammer company. It represents a relic of the forest communities of the Welser Heide . 11/9/1977

The pedunculate oak stands on the northwest corner of the factory premises of the Reifetzhammer company. It represents a relic of the forest communities of the Welser Heide and was placed under protection together with the neighboring summer linden tree. 11/9/1977

The protected pedunculate oak is located south of the village of Oberthan on the edge of a channel. The approximately 400 year old tree is surrounded by a group of trees. At the time it was placed under protection, the oak had a height of around 10 m and a trunk diameter of 1.2 m. The oak represents the rest of an original alluvial forest. 03/20/1984
