List of natural monuments in the Linz-Land district

The list of natural monuments in the Linz-Land district lists the objects designated as natural monuments in the Linz-Land district in the state of Upper Austria . The 16 natural monuments include a pond, a low terrace slope and a stone formation, exclusively trees or groups of trees, especially linden, chestnut, oak and beech.

The approximately 300 year old pedunculate oak is located south of the connecting road from Leonding to Alkoven between the villages of Rufling and Hitzing. At the time it was placed under protection, the oak had a trunk circumference of 4.3 m (measured at a height of one meter), a crown diameter of 13 m and a height of around 15 m. The oak is in a group of trees, with some branches having to be cut back for safety reasons because of a power line passing by. 05/16/1994

The five plane trees (Platanus x hybrida) belong to a group of trees which, in addition to the plane trees, also includes three larches and three spruces . The group of trees is in the immediate vicinity of the Enns reservoir area near the “Schießwiese” residential area. At the time they were placed under protection, the plane trees had a trunk circumference of 3.6 to 3.9 m (measured at a height of one meter) and a height of around 25 m. The three protected trees in Wilhering Abbey Park are a yew tree (Taxus baccata), a tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) and a giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum). At the time it was placed under protection, the probably oldest yew tree in Upper Austria had a trunk circumference of 4.4 m at chest height. The tulip tree was around 25 m high and is said to be a gift from a French colonel who thanked for the care in 1809. The sequoia was around 80 years old. 10/11/1962

The copper beech (Fagus sylvatica f. Purpurea) is located on a forecourt in front of Tillysburg Castle . At the time it was placed under protection, the beech tree had a trunk circumference of 4.7 m (measured at a height of half a meter), a crown diameter of 21 m and a height of around 27 m. The natural monument originally consisted of a sequoia tree, a red beech and a ginkgo tree. After severe storm damage, however, the sequoia and the red beech had to be felled, which is why the protection of the two trees was declared extinct in 1987.
