Palliative network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Palliativnetz or palliative and hospice network is a network in limited areas (usually cities or districts ) from various institutions of palliative care - and dying .

Components

How a palliative network is set up differs from network to network and depends heavily on what the medical and nursing infrastructure looks like in the respective regions. As a rule, such a network consists of affiliated family doctors, specially trained palliative care physicians, (palliative) nursing services , outpatient hospice services, inpatient hospices, palliative clinics and special palliative wards in clinics and hospitals.

tasks and goals

The main task of all components of palliative networks is the fast, smooth and dignified accompaniment of seriously ill people with an incurable disease in their last phase of life as well as their relatives in order to enable the highest possible quality of life in the process of dying. To do this, it is necessary to support the client's wishes, particularly with regard to the place of their death, in order, for example, to avoid unnecessary and stressful hospital stays or to enable them to remain in their own home environment. The dying people themselves receive psychosocial and pastoral support just like their relatives.

To this end, doctors work closely with inpatient and outpatient services. Important components for this are advanced training and work in quality circles and working groups in order to promote constant further development.
