Palm Commission

The Palme Commission was an independent international commission for disarmament and common security . She worked from 1980 to 1982 under the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme .

In June 1982 the Palme Commission made the following recommendations to the 2nd UN Special General Assembly for Disarmament in its Palme Report :

  • Conclusion of a contract for the mutual troop reduction in Europe ( MBFR )
  • Negotiations to dismantle strategic weapons ( START )
  • Agreement on the establishment of a nuclear-free zone in Europe
  • Agreement on the establishment of a chemical weapons-free zone in Europe
  • Comprehensive nuclear test ban agreement
  • Treaty on the dismantling of medium-range missiles in Europe
  • Agreement on the Prohibition of Space Weapons
