Pandan Island is a 20 hectare island in the Philippines . It has been designated as a protected area since 1994, 2 km off the coast of the cargo port city of Sablayan . The roughly teardrop-shaped island was named after the pandan palm that is common here. There are several subspecies of it, the fruits of the Pandanus amaryllifolius u. a. are used in the beverage and perfume industry and are also popular with flying foxes . This is where the Malay name comes from: Pandan ~ fragrance, smell.

The island (with accommodation in bamboo bungalows) is known for its beautiful sandy beach and a surrounding reef that is popular with snorkelers and divers. You can also approach the world-famous Apo Reef from here . Limited accommodation in the middle category is available. (See web links.)
