Pander Society

The Pander Society is a palaeontological association for the study of conodonts , which have great stratigraphic significance as key fossils of the Paleozoic and Triassic periods .

It was founded in 1967 and is named after Christian Heinrich Pander , the pioneer of conodont research. The President is called Chief Panderer and is currently (2014) Maria Cristina Perri (University of Bologna).

It publishes an annual newsletter, which was last published in 2013, and awards two prizes, the Pander Award for lifetime achievement in Condonten research and the Hinde Medal for young scientists.
