Paolo Pietrangeli

Paolo Pietrangeli (born April 29, 1945 in Rome ) is an Italian film director and songwriter .

Life

Pietrangeli, son of the filmmaker Antonio , worked from 1966 with the "Istituto E. De Martino" and the PCI ; u. a. a number of political and successful songs emerged (the best known probably Valle Giulia and especially Contessa ). In television he was responsible for numerous cultural contributions, was director of the Maurizio Costanzo show from 1982 and later, in 1985, for its sitcom Orazio , but also worked as a theater director. In 1997 he presented the piece Tabloid with Daniele Luttazzi . As a performer, in turn, he was the fictional character "Bobo" in the 1984 program Drive .

Pietrangeli worked as an assistant director for the cinema from 1968 (in addition to small roles in two of his father's films). From 1972 he worked as a documentary filmmaker, u. a. with the political Bianco e nero . In 1977 he made his feature film debut Porci con le ali , the script of which he wrote himself based on the bestseller by Lidia Rivera and Marco Lombardo Radice . The portrait of young pseudo-militant leftists in the crisis was only followed by one work for the canvas. In 1979 I giorni cantati, with a touch of autobiography, was created .

After a debut album in 1969 and four records between 1973 and 1979, a further ten publications of his songs appeared from 1989 at different intervals.

Pietrangeli has participated several times since 1996 as a candidate for various political functions. He has been a member of the Sinistra Ecologia Libertà since 2009 .
