Paolo Rendacio

Paolo Rendacio , also Randacio and Paolo da Paterno (* 1435 in Paterno Calabro ; † April 1, 1521 ibid) was elected Superior General of the Paulan Order after Franz von Paola .

From 1445 he was one of the first brothers in the community of Franz von Paola. He was ordained a priest by the Archbishop of Cosenza Pyrrhus Caracciolo (November 20, 1452 - August 1, 1481). He is described as wonderful but otherwise virtuous. He was one of the initiators of the monasteries Paterno and Crotona.

The unexpected death of the founder of the order on April 2nd, 1507 forced Father Bernardino Otranto to convene the general chapter to elect the successor of Francis de Paola as head of the order. Since there was no time to convene the chapter for the following May 13th, the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, with a letter from Julius II dated May 31st, the election was postponed to September 29th, the feast day of the Archangel St. . Michael. Since the rule of the order stipulates that the electoral chapters of the province must be held exactly on September 29th, Julius II postponed the celebration of the general chapter to Christmas with another letter on July 27th, so that the four provinces can celebrate the related chapter. On September 29, 1507, therefore, the first chapter of this Alma Province of St. Francis took place, from which the Servant of God, Father Paolo da Paterno, was chosen.

He attended the first general chapter of 1507 as Provincial of Calabria and was part of the group that initially spoke out against the vow of Lent. At this chapter session he was appointed provincial of the newly formed Roman province.
