Paradolmen de Ses Rates

The Paradolmen de Ses Rates is a stone age tomb in Catalonia . The dolmen , known as paradolms in Catalonia, is a megalithic complex that consists mainly of boulders or rock formations that form a natural cavity (e.g. an abri ) that is transformed into a burial chamber by artificial addition or used as such has been.

The Para dolmen is located in the middle of the coastal mountain range Massís de l'Ardenya far from any town. The closest town is Tossa de Mar , to which the site is assigned. It can be reached via a hiking trail from the Hermitage of Sant Grau or a hiking trail from the GI-681 road. The dolmen was excavated in 2004. The construction is dated between 2,500 and 1,800 BC.

There are two burial chambers covered by a granite slab. Since a large part of the construction is of natural origin, one speaks of paradolms .
