Parallel travel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In railway law, a parallel journey is understood to be the reciprocal flying overhaul of several trains on a multi-track line that has been released especially for this maneuver at the service management responsible for this section of the route. One train runs on the regular track and another on the opposite track in the same direction of travel.

For this purpose, according to the Railway Building and Operating Regulations (EBO), there must be an occupied section block for any oncoming rail vehicles . It is used for inauguration ceremonies due to the handover of new or upgraded routes and for nostalgic trips, for example on steam- powered trains. It was presented in a series of " Eisenbahnromantik" broadcasts about former generations of steam trains.
