Parisian redheads

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Parisian Redheads were a women's big band from the 1920s. They were put together in Indianapolis by theater agent Charlie Green and consisted mostly of classically trained musicians.

The name of the group refers to Paris in Indiana. In 1927 they were announced as The worlds greatest girl band . They were a Territory Band based in Indiana. The highlight of their appearances was the Times Square Palace Theater in New York City, where they appeared in 1928 and 1929 (1929 simultaneously with the Marx Brothers ). At the same time they had to change their name to Bricktops for legal reasons, as a lawsuit from Babe Egan and her Hollywood Redheads (who also appeared as Twelve Vampires ) threatened.

The singer was Bobby Grice. The line-up included Lillian Adams (1907-2000) on the trumpet.

Some of the musicians were later in Phil Spitalny's All Girl Orchestra .

They were recorded in 1928 by Brunswick (I think of you, I still love you).
