Parlais

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parlais , also Paralais ( Greek  Παραλαίς ) was an ancient and Byzantine city in the Lycaonia landscape of Asia Minor (later counted as Pisidia ). Their location is not clearly localized.

The city minted its own coins in the late Hellenistic period (1st century BC) and then again in the 2nd and 3rd centuries when it was a Roman colonia under the name Iulia Augusta Parlais .

In late antiquity, Parlais was the seat of a bishop. The titular Parlais of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
